Andreas is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of 4DMedical Limited (ASX:4DX). He founded the Company in December 2012 and was the driving force behind the development of 4DMedical’s proprietary XV Technology, the first major development in lung diagnostics in over half a century. This revolutionary diagnostics method measures airflow within the breathing lungs, at every stage of the breath, with both high spatial and temporal resolution at low radiation dose. Andreas is also currently the Principal Investigator for the Australian Lung Health Initiative.Andreas started his working career in academic research, rising to the position of Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Director of the Laboratory for Dynamic Imaging. During this time, he extensively studied experimental fluid dynamics. Andreas was earlier an acknowledged young leader in the area of imaging (within fluid dynamics), with his research in wind tunnel quantification leading to the development of new approaches to the imaging of gas and liquid flow. Andreas received a host of accolades from a range of premier research bodies, including the National Health and Medical Research Council and the American Asthma Foundation.Andreas is now using his proven scientific skills, business acumen and insatiable desire to innovate to further evolve and commercialise 4DMedical’s best of breed lung diagnostics technology. This quest is being aided by a highly experienced board of directors and medical advisory board.Andreas gained his PhD in Particle Image Velocimetry in 2008 at Monash University. He earlier qualified as a Master of Engineering Science (Fluid Mechanics) from the same university. His undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Queensland.
