I lead the Connected Products & Analytics organization and I am responsible for the design and development of Cognex’s edge-to-cloud platform, Edge Intelligence (EI). We follow a platform/product approach to build a suite of edge-to-cloud products that support Cognex products and solutions by providing device management, analytics, data forwarding, and application specific vision services.

Joined Ameresco with the acquisition of Seldera LLC, a SaaS energy analytics company I founded. Led the team to expand the energy analytics offering to perform building energy analysis, energy asset monitoring in solar generation and automated measurement and verification. This effort was applied to new business models in performance contracting, energy-as-a-service, and energy procurement bidding.

Founded Seldera LLC in 2011 at Yale University, acquired by Ameresco Inc in 2012. Led the design and development of Building Dynamics, a full-stack IoT application for energy efficiency. This included interfaces to sensors, an integrated data collection gateway architecture, cloud hosted analytics. Bootstrapped the company by winning competitive funding through SBIR and Connecticut State programs and participating in the TechStart fund accelerator program in Connecticut. Worked with utilities to drive an industrial pilot program to test and demonstrate the technology.

Conducted research in wireless sensor networks and networked embedded sensing. Directed a group of 12 Ph.D. students, post-doctoral fellows and M.S. students at the Embedded Networks and Applications Lab (ENALAB). Key research areas included wireless sensor node localization, interpretation of human behaviors in time and space using sensors and the applications of sensing systems to intelligent buildings and energy efficiency. As part of the computer systems track, this research also included the hands-on design and implementation of wireless sensors and sensing node architectures, development of embedded software and distributed sensing algorithms using estimation theory, machine learning and distributed algorithms. The research explored applications in three main application domains energy efficiency, security and healthcare. I have also worked with Federated Identity Management (IdM) Systems and studied their interactions with the physical world. Taught graduate and undergraduate courses in digital design, networking, computer programming, computer architecture, sensor networking and embedded systems. Served on technical program committees for several IEEE and ACM conferences and journals such as ACM: Mobicom, MobiSys, Sensys, IEEE: IPSN, Infocom, MASS, DCOSS and SECON). Associate Editor, ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks (2007 – 2012).Participated in faculty recruiting, graduate student recruiting and curriculum development. 70+ Refereed Publications in Conferences, Journals and Book Chapters 2 patents issued, 2 pending

Worked on sensor network applications involving the processing of location data, sensor fusion and sensor calibration. Designed a new 802.15.4 sensor node architecture and used it to create testbeds for data collection. The resulting sensing boards were used for research across multiple universities around the country and also resulted in the implementation of a new, ultra low power, privacy preserving imager-based wireless sensor network. Hardware design licensed to industry.

Designed a set of pilots for home sensing solutions that would allow elders to "age-in-place" by using sensors to mitigate some of the risks of living alone. This project was started by winning seed stage funding provided by the technology incubator at the University of Cyprus. The key premise of the pilots was to use a collection of wireless sensors to observe daily routines and identify machine learning approaches for measuring the pace of cognitive decline with low-resolution sensors.
