I am an Educator with ten years of professional experience working in a variety of roles in education. I began working as an Executive Assistant at East Austin College Prep where I maintained and managed records for faculty, staff, and students for different state and federal programs.. After being an Executive Assistant for a year, I transitioned into a teaching role and began my teaching career as a 7th grade English Language Arts Teacher. I taught 7th grade at EAPrep for three years before moving on to teach a 4th grade Bilingual class at Austin ISD while pursuing my master's degree. Following one year teaching a 4th grade Bilingual class, I moved into teaching a 4th grade ESL class. After five years of having a classroom of my own, I transitioned back to the secondary level and began working as an ESL Interventionist for Pflugerville ISD. In this role I helped newcomer English-speaking students adjust to U.S. schooling and assisted them in their core content classes via a co-teacher model. I served in this role for three years and transitioned into the Language Assessment Proficiency Committee (LPAC) Facilitator role. As the LPAC Facilitator, I ensured emergent bilingual students were identified and provided the proper instructional placement in accordance with state and federal statute, offered instructional strategy support to teachers, and assisted with outlining the logistics of TELPAS testing at my campus. I now serve at the Secondary ESL Coordinator for Manor ISD where I provide instructional strategy support to teachers that serve 6-12 scholars.
