In 2011 I led the technical and operational due diligence leading to the merger with Plutonic Power, creating Alterra Power, a fully integrated renewable energy company with a portfolio of wind, hydro, solar and geothermal. Manager Of Infrastructure – Onca Puma Nickel Project (Brazil)Canico Resources Corp., Vancouver, British Columbia (Acquired In 2005 By Vale) Jan 2004 - Dec 2005As manager of infrastructure led the engineering and construction of road and power infrastructure required to access the remote project site in Para, Brazil for the Once Puma Nickel Project. This included upgrade construction of a 150km paved state highway and the design / build of a 400km high tension power line to deliver up to 200MW of power for the new nickel mine in Para state, a very remote area of Brazil. Led the initiative to co-develop with the Para state government a $US20 million contract encompassing several hundred kilometres of new paved state roads and bridges, engaging a Brazilian engineering and construction firm to design and construct the state highway upgrade from single lane dirt to two lane paved. Spearheaded the basic design for the 230kV power line, preparing and tendering a comprehensive EPC bid package and awarding to Brazilian EPC contractor to design, procure and construct the US$70 million 400km transmission line / substation project. The company was acquired by CVRD (now Vale) in 2005

Worked with multi-disciplinary professionals to design the mine, processing facility, camp, power plant, truck shop, fuel tank farm, ammonium nitrate / explosives plant and other infrastructure. Initiated a swift hiring spree to recruit Engineers, Designers and Construction Contractors, as the EPCM contractor (now Wood) to build and commission for the client, BHP Billiton. Key contributor to the subsequent completion of the diamond processing plant and commissioning with an onsite diesel power plant larger than the City of Yellowknife, an 800-person camp with associated facilities and a full fly in, fly out operation completed during two ice road seasons.Mine fully operational ahead of schedule and within budget, producing 1 million carats per day contributing to the initial capital investment of $750 million paid within 2 years.
