Andre is currently studying for the SAF-accredited Master of Forestry at Duke University. His interests are in ecosystem restoration and timber harvesting and he is at Duke to learn the technical skills necessary for his forestry career.He was previously Assistant Lead of Continuing Education and Training, a capacity building role at the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions in the National University of Singapore. He was in charge of course design and partnerships for a few short courses on "Sustainability 101 for Policy Officers" and "Sustainability Course for Defence Leadership" where his team trained over 200 public servants in Singapore over 2 years and earned a strong financial return. He has managed course partnerships with numerous government agencies in Singapore including the National Climate Change Secretariat in the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Economic Development Board, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also supported international programs like the "Blue Carbon Policy and Finance Workshop" organized for ASEAN and AOSIS government officers in partnership with Conservation International and MFA.Before that, he worked at Temasek Foundation managing philanthropic grants for groundbreaking climate technologies and conservation models. There he helped to organize the Liveability Challenge, Asia's largest search for sustainability solutions with a $1M prize. He managed grants to companies including Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN), Fairventures Social Forestry, and NEU Batteries.His passion for the environment began when he wrote a history of birds, birders, and forest conservation in Singapore for his undergraduate honors thesis at Yale-NUS, a collaboration between Yale University and the National University of Singapore.
