In my current role I am responsible and accountable for the strategic planning of underground and surface water storage, water reticulation and medium to longterm water management risks for all operational Sasol coal mining operations. Based on a foundation of scientifically driven validation, modelling, risk identification and scenario building - workable and realistic solutions are formulated with the ultimate aim of mitigating water storage capacity limitations and risks to safety and production in our mining operations.

Syferfontein Colliery

In this position I was responsible for the successful expansion and development of Syferfontein colliery with the focus on reserve optimization, utilization, geological estimation and coal quality management. Furthermore, my responsibilities included identifying major geological risks to production using horizontal, vertical and directional drilling methods, geological mapping and geological modelling.I have logged over 250 boreholes since 2012.It was also imperative that I ensure effective communication of geological information and I play a crucial role in improving the geological confidence at the mine.I managed a team of one Geologist-in-training and two geological assistants as part of the Geology department at Syferfontein colliery.

2012 Was the first year I joined Sasol as a Junior operations Geologist.During this time I followed a comprehensive training program and had to apply my studies in B.Sc Geology to a fast moving, mining and exploration environment with a combination of technical and business challenges.
