Manager Of Positive Train Control
CurrentLeads and directs the training, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and operations of Positive Train Control (PTC) with 24/7 responsibility and secondary responsibility of Remote Control systems within assigned geographic area. Provides engineering, managerial and technical support of the Positive Train Control system.Provides Subject Matter Expert support for Locomotive Electro-Mechanical systems. Effectively manages best practice in safety, quality and production, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, company, and local rules and regulations. Manage assigned projects and provide instructions, training, installations, repair, and oversight for electrical and/or mechanical systems and equipment for a variety of locomotives.Define and develop instructions for modifications to locomotive electrical and/or mechanical systems. Actively supervise initial applications of such modifications and monitor field forces to ensure that modifications are being applied safely and as intended.Analyze locomotive electrical and/or mechanical systems and equipment performance and component failure data to detect trends in order to determine causes for failure.Develop corrective actions to eliminate or minimize such failures, implement corrective procedures, and ensure safe repair.Develop/support related Six Sigma projects as required.Review suggestions from the field or other sources to determine safe, practical, and economic feasibility of implementation.Provide technical support to various Mechanical and Transportation departmental staff to ensure safe and efficient locomotive operations.Develops and coaches both non-union and union employees.Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
