It focuses on a different country or region every year and attracts, from all over the world, such high-profile individuals as Ambassadors, Premiers, noted scholars and professors. The focus of the 16th annual International Studies Symposium was the island of Hispaniola.- Raised $25,000 in 10 months- Planned and executed various fundraising activities and initiatives including pub nights and silent auctions- Created a database of resources to assist with fundraising - Compiled and completed various grant and sponsorship applications - Built and maintained relationships with members of the Haitian and Dominican diasporas as well as various offices at York University - Researched and secured Haitian and Dominican artists to perform at the Symposium
