The Solos is an award winning music company in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, whose music and sound design has been used in movie trailers for 1917, Captain Marvel, Dark Phoenix, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Godzilla, Black Panther and in ads for Adidas, Audi and British Airways.The company was founded by André Ettema after having worked for about 6 years with Tom Holkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL in Amsterdam and Los Angeles on his productions. The Solos grew rapidly as a company and a collective of composers, musicians, sound designers and programmers and is now a 10 person strong band. Buma Stemra, the Dutch public rights organisation, has awarded The Solos with a Buma Award for advertising music in 2017 for the music in the Daredevil trailer. The Solos started their own label and publishing company aptly named The Solos for the releases of their trailer and promo music on the worldwide portals. In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic The Solos released 2 EP’s and a full length album called ‘Infected’. ‘Infected’ was inspired by the brightest ideas and the darkest moods that we experienced in the those months. The Solos are also closely working with international companies like Native Instruments and Steinberg supplying content for their musical products, it est synthesizer presets and sample libraries. The company partners André Ettema and Dennis Braunsdorf also partner in Prolody, a company focussing on emotive speech synthesis and analysis.
