• Contracted to investigate and resolve a number of infrastructure issues which were causing frequent outages affecting patients and staff at the hospital.
• Identified a number of the stabilisation issues were due to configuration issues with the VMware 5.1 platform; implemented patches, carried out several rebuilds and updated the VMware configuration.
• Discussed backup requirements with business owners, consolidated the number of backup tools in use and implemented a new backup schedule.
• Documented the backup/restore procedures, set up and documented disaster recovery processes.
• Provided guidance to the team on Linux server maintenance and rebuild work.

London, United Kingdom

• Part of the Cloud delivery team, providing clients with a bespoke cloud-based managed services. Attended pre-sales meetings to discuss client requirements, designed and delivered solutions using a range of technologies.
• Joined the systems implementation team, developing the internal cloud platform (VMWare) to support the new UK market. Produced detailed systems documentation and test plan to meet in-house quality standards.
• Designed and developed a new Monitoring solution, Utilizing Zabbix to monitor Cloud platform as well as creating Zabbix proxy devices for customer sites.
• Designed and developed a new product; an email SaaS, based on Zimbra 8, providing clients with a managed service solution for email and enhanced remote access capabilities.
• Liased with a wide range of stakeholders to design the product, develop the proof-of-concept, gain management approval and develop the product through to testing and implementation.
• Provided the support team with a comprehensive support guide and worked with the marketing team to develop the product branding.

Kent

• KMCS support a number of NHS clinical commissioning groups (CCGs); Ashford, Canterbury and Coastal, Medway, Swale, Dartford, South Kent Coast, West Kent, Thanet, Gravesham and Swanley, as well as over 450 GP surgeries.
• Reviewed the overall technical architecture and produced a detailed design to meet strategic goals, government best practice and to provide a flexible environment to cope with future organisational changes. The scope.
• Managed a team of eight to implement various aspects of the new architecture.
• Managed a number of infrastructure upgrade projects including installing a new high-availability data-centre (with DR), virtualisation (VMware/ESXi 5 and Hyper-V), radius authentication (Juniper SA6500/EMC.
• Provided 3rd-line support for a range of systems including SQL 2008R2 clustered servers, Apple file services, CISCO ASA firewalls and wireless controllers.

• Led a team of 6 engineers to upgrade the desktop (XP to Windows 7) across the estate.
• Developed batch scripts to automate server builds, reducing build times from one month to 2-3 days.
