The role involves providing operational management of Department of Twin Research Microbiome Laboratory. Responsible for the development, set up and maintenance of the microbiome laboratory in collaboration with Senior Microbime Investigators and deliverables related to project work in the level 2 contaiment microbiome lab. The post involves implementation, smooth running and developing of new automated system and associated LIMS, required for DNA extraction of archived and on-going collections of faecal samples and other specimens as blood, saliva, urine.Responsible for the data entry, LIMS development and up keep of electronic and paper records. Provide complete audit trail from processing, through storage and shipment to third party collaborators, running queries on Access database. Produce and present reports and attending meetings internally and externally, training junior staff, provide technical and organisational support to other groups involved in sample processing, test required and results. Responsible for maintaining effective communications between laboratory and other department members, as well as the clinical recruitment team at both Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital.Other key duties include ensuring GCP and GLP and legal compliance by helping to implement and maintain a quality management system within Human Tissue Authority licensed lab facility.
