Their responsibilities are wide-ranging, covering both preventative maintenance and immediate repairs to keep the vehicles performing at their best in high-stress, high-speed conditions.Key responsibilities:Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:-Perform routine inspections to identify wear and tear on parts like tires, suspension, brakes, and drivetrain components.-Ensure the engine, transmission, and differential are properly tuned and functioning efficiently.-Check for fluid levels (engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid) and replace or top up as necessary.-Perform pre-event checks, ensuring the car complies with safety regulations and event-specific technical standards.In Competition:Quick Repairs: During a competition, if a car sustains damage (such as from collisions or high-stress maneuvers), the mechanic must perform quick repairs between runs, often under time pressure.On-the-spot Adjustments: Fine-tuning of suspension, tire pressure, and engine settings may be necessary based on track conditions, temperature, or driver feedback.Padock Support: The mechanic works with the driver and team to ensure rapid response in case of mechanical issues.
