Research & Exploration:The potential recovery of shrimps shells and other crustacean bio-waste led Andrei to collaborate with Wyss Institute, Havard University. He explored a more sustainable approach when fabricating large three-dimensional objects re-using crustaceans shells. The new found bio-polymer proved to have similar characteristics to metal though twice less dense. This new bio-polymer called chitin is demonstrated throughout he's portfolio to form and adapt existing buildings in order to respond to rising sea levels around the world such as Florida, USA.International Architecture Regeneration & Development (IARD):The focus involved a real life regeneration project that provided Andrei with the opportunity to put theory into practice. An international location representing different regeneration schemes was selected on a complex of buildings related to a redundant paper factory in Rijeka, Croatia; in collaborations with the University of Zagreb and Rijeka. A strategy involved a masterplan for the area, responding to the client's brief and local community needs which were identified during the field study. Andrei's proposal reuses the buildings on the site and adapts them into a new culinary centre. He's project connected the urban realm and generated solutions that positively contributed to the social and economic regeneration of Rijeka and Croatia as a whole.Design & Representation:Throughout he's year at university many types of representation has been executed. Through photographic montages and infographics to sketch models and CAD drawings, each have specifically been engaged to a phenomenological approach for a variety of projects.
