Quality Engineer: as a quality engineer I am the interface between the customer and our company and as part of my responsibilities (but not limited to) I have to make sure that the quality of the most high end ultra sound systems built within our company are meeting the customer’s request and specifications, enforce the Quality Management System within the engineering and production team, respect Lean Sigma principles, create and deploy work instructions for the production team, maintain a tight relation with the customer on a weekly basis (weekly meetings to discuss possible issues found at customer’s site or issues which we are facing internally), document and manage all deviations, customer complaints and ECOs, conduct investigations for top detractors (internally) and customer defects and document all actions, undertake and manage all purge requests, maintain highly detailed reports (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) regarding yields, defects per unit per milion, out of box inspection failures, customer returned units. Also, as part of my basic activities is included but not limited to everything that is related to the inspection stations from the process flow. Another side of the quality engineer’s responsabilities is related to the problem solving activities and manage all CAPA (Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions), CAR (Corrective Action Request), SQIP (Supplier Quality Improvement Plan), SCAR (Supplier Corrective Actions Request) by making sure that all tasks and actions are fullfilled until the deadline and document everything in a detailed but easy to understand manner. As a shorter version, the quality engineer is the driver of the project, responsible also with keeping track of other people’s actions (test engineer, product engineer, supplier quality engineer etc) making sure that the deadlines are respected by following up with the team as much as needed, providing support on all areas of the process flow, including the SMT lines (boards production processes) as an IPC specialist (certificate recognized worldwide). As part of investigations-containment-preventive actions managed with the team, multiple actions where included in the continuos improvement management system and BEST idea generation system.
