The main objective of my postdoc research is to conduct in vivo characterization of the novel CAR-NK cells developed during my PhD and to pursue the in vivo generation of CAR cells using mRNA strategies. This work aims to advance our understanding of CAR cell functionality and its potential applications in cancer therapy.

It was a privilege to be at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute | HARVARD Medical School with a Fulbright fellowship, collaborating with exceptional scientists. My primary goal was to develop an NK cell-based immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer in the NK cell gene Manipulation and Therapy laboratory, under the guidance of Dr. Rizwan Romee. This experience enabled me to develop innovative Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-NK cells that specifically target pancreatic tumors and modulate the tumor microenvironment, contributing to significant advancements in cancer immunotherapy.

Objective: To enhance the tumor-infiltrating capacity and anti-tumor targeting of NK cells in pancreatic tumors.Description: My Ph.D. research focused on advancing the therapeutic potential of NK cells for pancreatic cancer treatment. By isolating NK cells from tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) of fresh pancreatic cancer specimens and cultivating them ex vivo, I aimed to expand and characterize these cells. This process was designed to boost NK cells' ability to infiltrate tumors and precisely target cancer cells. Through this innovative approach, my work seeks to significantly improve therapeutic outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients by leveraging the innate immune system.

At Champalimaud Foundation Biobank, I had a crucial role in supporting, developing, and establishing the biobank infrastructure. My responsibilities included processing a wide range of biological samples, including blood, tumor tissue, cystic fluid, and tumor-infiltrating cells (TILs). This work was integral to ensuring the quality and availability of biological samples for research, ultimately contributing to advancements in biomedical science.

Objective: To identify key genes driving bladder cancer progression.Description: During my master's project, our primary goal was to uncover the key genes responsible for bladder cancer progression. We investigated the role of p63 isoforms, which appear to be linked to tumor development, though their precise influence remains uncertain. Utilizing both in vitro and in vivo models, we aimed to elucidate the transition from Non-muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer to Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer, identifying the underlying genetic factors involved. This research has the potential to contribute significantly to the understanding and treatment of bladder cancer.
