Alcatel-Lucent was a strategic partner to eircom in its network transformation program. Alcatel-Lucent was contracted to deliver a number of separate but inter-related projects, including a Carrier IP/MPLS network, a Fulfilment solution, and a migration program of works to migrate business customer services from legacy networks to the NGNThis program involved complex interactions between eircom IT and Network Engineering groups, and multiple Alcatel-Lucent business divisions. I was the Alcatel-Lucent CTO for this program. My responsibilities included:- Acting as the technical design authority for all Alcatel-Lucent solutions being delivered to eircom.- Maintaining a program-wide view of projects being delivered, understanding interactions, and identifying and managing associated risks and issues. - Establishing and maintaining a good relationship with senior eircom Engineering, Operations and Program Managers.- Performing the lead solution architect role for all Migration solutions.- Providing technical guidance to the Program Manager to act promptly to resolve issues, and limit escalating project costs.

I was the lead voice architect in the TITAN architecture team. We were responsible for defining the target reference network architecture for Telstra's transformation project TITAN. My responsibilities included:- Defining the POTS Emulation architecture. This will form the basis of Telstra’s mass migration from the PSTN to the next generation Ethernet aggregation and IP network.- Defining the IMS architecture for existing and new services.- Providing guidance to project teams on architectural issues.- Providing insight on technical issues in cross-work stream project reviews.- Understanding customer product plans and strategy to further evolve the network architecture to meet their needs.

Manager of the VoIP switching business unit within Open Telecommunications.The switching business unit developed Carrier VoIP Softswitch and Intelligent Networks products and solutions. I had ownership and management of all sales opportunities, customer and partner relationships, and development, delivery, test and support activities. I was responsible for key decision making and prioritising of all switching group activities under very difficult circumstances.

I was the product manager and pre-sales expert in the VoIP softswitching business unit. During this time I also acted as the Bid Manager for our Service Delivery Platform Solutions Group.

I established a new internal team for independent verification of VoIP products and solutions before release to the customer. This included the establishment of verification quality processes. My team executed large-scale, time-critical verification of multiple product releases to meet key customer milestones. This team was also responsible for post-sales customer support of these products.

I was the Lead Voice Network Architect for the design and delivery of a national VoIP solution for a new Greenfield IP carrier.The VoIP solution is a softswitch network based on MGCP, H323, SIP and over 66 SS7 points of interconnect. At the time there was only one other MGCP network of comparable scale in the world.
