Member of the International Department’s leadership team, participating in the strategic decision making processes and management.Responsible for emergency and longer-term operations in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Yemen and a budget of SEK 60M. Developing a new partnership opportunity in Libya. Leading the work of creating bridges between the various units and the MENA team with the aim of capitalizing on and using SRC’s competences at international level.Responsible for the security of all staff and visitors to the region.Responsible for the unit’s strategic developments, resource mobilization, monitoring and reporting of SRC’s operations in the region. Ensure that humanitarian work in the region is relevant and effective.Responsible for strengthening relations with IFRC, ICRC and NS as well as other relevant actors in the region.Manage and develop relations with donors; ensure quality and respect of reporting deadlines.

Manage and lead the 44 staff and delegates of the IFRC Central Africa regional office covering 6 countries i.e. Cameroon, DR Congo/Kinshasa, Republic of Congo/Brazzaville, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome & Principé. Ensure technical support to IFRC offices in the Central Africa Republic and Chad. Ensure respect of IFRC procedures in the implementation of programmes and emergency operations, the PMER process as well as transparent finance management. Develop, update and ensure respect of IFRC Security Regulations across Central Africa. Manage and prevent integrity issues. Member of IFRC’s Global Management Team. Act as Communications advisor to IFRC’s Africa Director. Develop and supervise the implementation of IFRC’s communication plan for the Pan African Conference (Abidjan, Ivory Coast, April 2017). Maintain and strengthen RCRC Movement relations in Central Africa. Maintain and strengthen relations with national authorities, embassies, UN agencies, private sector and donors. Ensure proper tenure of the Secretariat of Cameroon’s Diplomatic Circle.

The position evolved from Head of Desk, East Africa until 2012, to Head of Desk West and Central Africa until 2013, into the current position. It encompasses: Leading a team of 8 staff and delegates; Management of an annual budget of SEK 50M (CHF 6M) (excluding emergency funds); Management of the SRC field structure - programme development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting as well as security; Establishment and follow up of partnerships with National Societies including, but not limited to, francophone countries such as DR Congo and Mali; Ensuring a flow of situation and operational analysis; Coordinate SRC's emergency response – including Ebola Response and Recovery; Coordination with, and follow up of support to programmes financed through the IFRC; Identification and management of integrity and corruption issues; Coordination with other relevant humanitarian actors; Management of donor relations such as Sida as well as private foundations both in the field and in Stockholm. Management of (consortia) partners – French RC in Mali, Spanish and Norwegian RC in DR Congo, Belgian RC in Namibia and Malawi, Austrian RC in Ethiopia, Norwegian RC in South Sudan (Project now closed). Coordination of two Integrated Partnership (IP) projects with the ICRC in Liberia and Ethiopia. Represent the organization in international fora. Manage media relations and act as spokesperson for the organization.

Management of a regional team of 16, of which 7 francophones and 9 anglophones, in 14 countries of Eastern Africa (EA) (*). Managed the EA Communication Forum, secured staff on loan assignments for NS counterpart at the Zone office as well as their participation in IFRC communication teams at various Movement events. Successfully organized of the humanitarian diplomacy part – briefing of diplomatic missions, communication, advocacy, branding - of the global Statutory meetings [General Assembly (GA) and Council of Delegates (CoD)] held for the first time in Africa (Nairobi, November 2009). Managed and coordinated the Movement Communication team (Kenya RC, ICRC, IFRC) in Nairobi. Managed 200 journalists from the main international media accredited for the event. Produced, co-authored and launched at the Nairobi GA, IFRC's Great Lakes albino advocacy report called ‘Through Albino Eyes’. Member of the communication team at the 2008 Red Cross Red Crescent Pan African Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. Member of the Senior Management team of an office counting at the time 20 international delegates and more than 50 regional staff. Regularly doubled as Continental Security Coordinator and as acting Head of Zone office. In charge humanitarian diplomacy function, publications and media relations; spokesperson for the organization. Developed and maintained relations with a number of diplomatic missions and donors. Provided support to emergency operations that generated, in addition to the annual work plans, resources to assist some 2 million people annually, as well as development programmes. Organized and coordinated capacity building exercises for the 14 national societies in the region.

One of the two persons ensuring the liaison with representatives of the Swedish Defence Ministry and Folke Bernadotte Academy, co-facilitating discussions, lectures and workshops that led to the design of the humanitarian package for the Nordic Battle Group and Wiking ’08 trainings.

Management and coordination of a network of 14 staff. Provided communications support to, and ensured coverage of development programmes as well as emergency interventions. Established the regional East Africa Communication Forum - as part of the RC-Net - supporting the strengthening of NS communication skills. Facilitated the participation of NS communicators to Regional events. Coordinated of the implementation of the regional part of a global HIV/AIDS anti-discrimination campaign. Advisor to the Head of Regional Delegation, member of the Senior Management team, speech writer, spokesperson for the IFRC. Developed strong professional relations with the international media based in Nairobi.
