Dr. Andrei Guzaev has driven the science of oligonucleotide synthesis forward for more than 20 years. He directs research in oligonucleotide synthesis and commercializes specialty reagents such as sulfurizing agents, phosphorylating agents, and "best in it's class" universal support chemistry for DNA/RNA oligonucleotide synthesis.His lab at AM CHEMICALS, is one of the few that continues to radio label oligonucleotides for ADME studies of oligonucleotide-based pharmaceuticals.Many of Andrei's inventions are widely accepted industry standards in their class. His products are distributed, inter alia, by Glen Research. They serve as the basis for oligonucleotide production and modification by the world's largest custom oligo manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies.Dr. Guzaev continues to make significant contributions to the advancement of synthetic nucleic acid production technology, as documented by more than 50 articles in scientific journals, 35 patents, more than 40 presentations in National and International symposia. He is engaged in ongoing contract manufacturing, process development, and technology transfer to biopharma, CRO's, manufacturers of diagnostics and custom oligonucleotides.Dr. Guzaev started his career in Chemical Engineering before obtaining his PhD in organic chemistry. He has advanced from his position as Associate Director at the Institute of Immunology in Checkov, Russia, via University of Turku in Finland, to Assistant Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Isis Pharmaceuticals in Carlsbad, California, and founded AM Chemicals in 2003.Dr. Guzaev has received many professional honors in his career including the Most Valuable Publication of 1995 by the Editorial Board of Bioorg. Khimia (Moscow).
