*Troubleshot all tire mold designs and performed inspections, audits and provided technical assistance to 15 to 20 vendors to ensure their products met tire specifications. Vendors were located in United States, China, Germany and Latin America. Products included radial passenger, motorcycle, truck, earthmover tires ranging between 14” to 63”. Traveled frequently to KS, NY, AL, VA. NC as well as China. * Spearheaded project to convert 100+ molds to be run in Buffalo plant which involved extensive re-working of tire molds to accommodate new and more precise dimensions and patterns. Created detailed instructions outlining mold performance and usage directions. Communicated daily with production vice president regarding status.* Provided direct plant support for mechanical equipment failure issues using hands-on troubleshooting in production facility. Disassembled mold, inspected it, monitored mold operations, checked press settings and performed all actions necessary to bring production back up to standard in quality and productivity.

This involved monitoring initial production runs, making adjustments in press settings and attacking high waste molds with detailed troubleshooting techniques reducing waste by 10% and improving productivity, efficiency, and quality. • Analyzed extrusion process to ensure rubber flow would not negatively impact waste. Worked with compounders to verify rubber properties.• Managed monthly mold budget for $100K+. Balanced repair of several high waste molds with purchase of new materials and equipment to ensure production was not slowed, while remaining under budget.

* Used ProCAD to engineer tire molds using existing standards and facilitated development of new concepts / processes for mold procurement. For example, when Dunlop Tire was acquired, designed hybrid GY and Dunlop tire to be produced in Japan. Collaborated with Japanese designers to compute proper dimensions and order correct parts. Design is still being used. * Designed new more practical load table using structural analysis on which molds could be tested. Table is still being used throughout company.

* Physically performed tests with various clamps, vices, etc to apply load to polymer class power arresters. Recorded data and submitted reports to senior management and plant engineering department.

* Computed residual stresses and strains and calculated orbital coordinates for interior of space shuttle. Designed two-phase flow separator to reuse water on space shuttle mission.
