Designing an alternative variable emissivity device for UCI Cubesat. During exposure to sunlight, it would lower surface emissivity and raise it to dissipate heat. This would require no mechanical moving components and minimum power. Currently testing electronic paper devices in this setup in vacuum chambers to simulate closer to low Earth orbit conditions. Developed, modeled, and manufactured experiments for conductivity and emissivity using SolidWorks and a machining lab. Parts were ordered from McMaster-Carr when needed. I used infrared cameras to validate testing reults from calculated experiments.

Led a team of 7 students in the design and manufacture of fiber glass and carbon fiber vehicle bodies for the Society of Automotive Engineer’s 2019 and 2020 electric Formula One race cars. Initial designs for the body of the racecars were prototyped with wooden panels to ensure safety with high voltage components on the vehicles. I organized and oversaw the subteam of 7 students from a 107 large team of students for the 2018-2020 school years. I created goals and weekly presentations for better efficiency and accountability of the fabrication of the formula racecar fabrication to sponsors and faculty. In this subteam's first two years, we manufactured conventional wings by creating a foam core with a CNC machine and then applying layers of fiberglass (2018-2019) and carbon fiber (2019-2020) through wet layups. The body of the racecar was built the same way except molds were also required to apply layups. CAD models of components were created on SolidWorks and CAM for the CNC was made on Fusion360. Urban Workshop, a nearby machine shop, provided courses on operation, safety, and maintenance of CNC routers to my team for this project.

Manufactured multiple prototype stunt kites out of plastic and carbon fiber rods in order to balance the quad lines that control the kites. Through an iterative design process, a final design was chosen and manufactured that could reliably maneuver in any direction.
