Business leader, attorney, and entrepreneur. I began my career practicing law at Wilmer Cutler & Pickering in Washington, D.C. and Compaq Computer Corporation, where I served as in-house Counsel for Latin America as well as Director of a strategic growth division evaluating early-stage companies and disruptive technologies. In 2001, I co-founded Nextant, an international consulting firm that has grown to 200+ professionals assisting leading companies such as Microsoft, AMD, and Providence/St. Joseph design and improve their commercial and operational programs and processes. Nextant has formed an especially strong relationship with Microsoft and is a recent back-to-back recipient of Microsoft's Supplier of the Year award, the most prestigious recognition of its strategic partners. I have also pursued additional entrepreneurial activity, including co-founding Avanxo, a company that grew to be a leading cloud computing services firm before being acquired in 2019 by Globant. My work has focused on commercial matters and investments in almost every country in the Americas, and more recently, on developing people-centric strategies and processes to support Nextant's growth. I was recently named to the UCLA Foundation Board of Directors where I will assist in overseeing the management and investment of the University's multi-billion dollar endowment. My experience in education includes serving on the faculty of the University of Colorado at Boulder where I taught courses on international business. I was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and I am currently working on a memoir exploring my immigration history. I am a graduate of the Harvard Law School and currently split my time between homes in Seattle, Washington and Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica.
