Andrew Appel was president and chief executive officer of IRI from 2012-2021, a leading provider of big data, predictive analytics and forward-looking insights that help CPG, OTC health care organizations, retailers and media companies to grow their businesses. After joining IRI in June 2012, Andrew fostered a client-focused organization that constantly pushes boundaries by providing advanced technology and leading insights solutions. During his tenure, Andrew has overseen the launch of multiple transformative platforms – including IRI Liquid Data – that have repositioned IRI as the innovation leader for CPG brands, retailers and media companies. With 14 years at Mckinsey & Company and over 15 years of executive experience focused on promoting innovation and revenue growth, Andrew helped guide IRI’s more than 5,000 clients around the world in their quests to remain relentlessly relevant, capture market share, connect with consumers, collaborate with key constituents and deliver market-leading growth. The results spoke for themselves doubling revenue and more than tripling EBITDA during his tenure while transforming the company and the industry. Andrew is a current board member of IRI and Machine Vantage, and has also served on two task forces related to resolving the pension shortfalls of the state of Illinois and the City of Chicago. Prior to IRI, Andrew served as chief revenue officer of Accretive Health, chief operating officer of Aon and a senior partner at McKinsey & Company.Andrew is the co-author of ‘AI for Marketing and Product Innovation,’ a book that offers creatives and marketing professionals a non-tech guide to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
