I am an environmental engineering student interested in water resources, wastewater treatment, habitat restoration, and hazardous waste management. During my professional career, I aim to help solve the complex problems involving earth's natural resources that are negatively impacting the environmental, economic, and societal well-being of people.Through my previous internships, I was able to learn more about the role of environmental and civil engineers in protecting and designing our critical water infrastructure. More specifically, working at the Illinois Tollway under Ardmore Roderick, I had the opportunity to learn how to conduct tests to assess the condition of bioswales, outfalls, culverts, and detention basins. Additionally, working at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago allowed me to develop my skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, reviewing contracts and specifications, and conducting cost estimates for change orders. Performing these tasks for public agencies gave me valuable insights as to how I can improve people's lives through my work.The other additional jobs and projects I have taken on throughout my college career have allowed for me to be a well-rounded person and engineer. Working on a microbial fuel cell at the Environmental Core Facility has allowed me to gain hands-on experience in data analysis and laboratory work. Moreover, preparing exhibits for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Engineering Expo, as well as working as a shift lead at Carson's Market, have taught me how important organization, time management, and teamwork are when completing tasks and projects.I am extremely grateful for all that I have learned throughout my college career, and I am excited to utilize the skills I have acquired to help protect Earth's precious resources in my future career.
