Budgeting & Forecasting:Preparation and consolidation of detailed annual budgets and the subsequent monitoring, analysis and reporting of actual financial performance against budget.Compliance & Tax:Preparation of statutory financial statements, tax returns and management of the annual audit process.Business Strategy:Worked alongside other directors to ensure that the correct business strategy was developed and implemented in order to continue to grow the business in a challenging economic environment.Commercial Bids & Financial Modelling:With the Commercial Director, developed innovative proposals that directly led to significant client wins. This included developing the MI systems to capture relevant operational data in order to be able to model the financial impact of proposals for both the business and prospective clients.Integral member of a bid team that won an 8-year multi million contract with a major utility company. This entailed building a detailed bottom up commercial model to cost the contract, including taking it through numerous client driven revisions and scope changes, together with being part of the client facing team.Operational Reporting:Development of a suite of standard reports that reported key operational data to clients for quarterly and monthly review meetings. One report developed for a utility company was subsequently adopted as the standard format across the panel of service providers.Developed and introduced a revised and enhanced month end reporting package for the management team which included the consolidation of multiple financial reports, detailed variance analysis, cashflow forecasting, working capital KPIs and operational KPIs.

Financial Control:Overall responsibility for all financial control aspects of the business and for ensuring that a sound system of financial controls operated across the division. Accounting Consolidations:Led the divisional financial reporting process across a large and diverse range of businesses with operations in a number of geographical locations.Business Reporting:Prepared the monthly financial reports for both divisional and the group boards, together with the preparation of other presentations and papers for the divisional Finance Director and Managing Director as required. Statutory Requirements:Managed the divisional Year End and Half Year Audit process.Reviewed and approved accounting treatments for new contracts and investments.

Internal Audit:Working to demanding timescales managed the outsourced internal audit function for FTSE 250 Company. This covered developing the scope of work, controlling the fieldwork and reporting findings to senior management within business units and group head office.Public Sector:Secondment period with the financial policy and control function of a newly established UK governmental organisation. This included helping to develop and implement internal policies, controls and procedures across a diverse organisation with a wide variety of corporate cultures and management systems.

Audit & Accounting:Working either both as part of a team and on an individual basis, undertook statutory audits for a number of clients in a range of sectors including manufacturing, retail, legal and not-for-profit.Preparation of statutory accounts and personal and corporate tax computations for numerous clients across a wide range of industries and sectors.
