Key Responsibilities:• Produce simulation tools for rocket engine development, production and R&D• Final sign-off on rocket engine performance for flight• Develop the Rutherford engine to meet flight performance requirements• Develop the Curie engine to meet flight performance requirements• Launch operations support and training• Future propulsion system specification developmentAchievements:• Designed and implemented a numerical optimiser to maximise the payload capability of the Electron vehicle given trajectory, propellant and battery capacity constraints, with a significant increase in delivered payload mass• Designed and constructed a static test facility for the Curie rocket engine, including altitude testing capability• Developed and validated a numerical simulation of combustion chamber regenerative cooling used for the Curie engine• Designed, developed and qualified an upgraded version of the Curie engine through to successful flight with a significant increase in delivered payload mass• Jointly received the 2018 Royal Aeronautical Society gold team award for development of the Rutherford rocket engine

• Prepare and co-ordinate technical documentation for tenders and contracts as directed.• Create and manage brake system design in accordance with quality processes.• Liaise with customers’ engineering departments on all technical aspects of the project during the tender and realisation phases of the project.• Define and co-ordinate work packages for the engineering departments within the organisation for the assigned projects.• Ensure that all engineering aspects of assigned projects are updated and maintained in the engineering database (PLM).• Provide systems engineering support for all assigned new and existing systems in accordance with relevant standards.• Provide commissioning and troubleshooting support for the assigned systems and products in the field.• Provide engineering support for product engineering and design (application engineering, new developments).• Provide technical support as required for other departments in accordance with quality processes.

• Assist in the quotation process for machine design and engineering services to external companies. • Provide and develop concepts for machine and product designs and control systems. • Select, specify, procure, install and commission components and equipment from external sources. • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to design and specify control and automation systems for custom production machinery and products. • Develop PLC software, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and various documentation packages for manufacture and quality assurance.

• Responsible for performing computational fluid dynamics analyses on the fuselage of an Australian Army helicopter. • Evaluating a number of open source CAD, meshing and CFD tools for DSTO use. • Developing a workflow for generating CFD solutions using open source tools. • Extensive CAD cleanup to generate CFD-ready geometry from a poor quality visualization model.
