Managed all biological and wet lab components of the iGEM McMaster 2023 project: BacTrack. An ingestible biosensor for the characterization of gut metabolites related to major depressive disorder:1.Conducted literature review on the gut brain connection with major depressive disorder to identify 5 gut-derived biomarkers. 2. Constructed genetic circuits using Benchling and translated models to benchtop. Successfully engineered a Butyrate sensing DH5a E. coli. 3. Trained and mentored 6 undergraduate students in lab in microbiology techniques. 4. Developed and pitched BacTrack at the Grand Jamboree iGEM competition in Paris France5. Awarded Silver overall through showcasing engineering success. Notable achievement: Gold in design of engineered part.6.
