I’m working on a new RNA vaccine technology. I help with planning and executing experiments, writing SOP’s, special outlines, test records, and validation reports. I have experience in planning and executing validation experiments. I also coordinate the crosstalk and collaboration between our vaccine production and animal study work. I characterize vaccines using various in-process, pre and post vaccination experimental techniques.

Research Scientist

Managed instruction for two courses: Introduction to Biology for Non-Majors and Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology. I lectured on chemistry, genetics, evolution, cancer, DNA technology, and other topics. I also oversaw two labs covering areas including biotechnology, biodiversity, karyotyping, and human genetics. And I consistently utilized new teaching methods to reflect changes in research. A couple of my achievements: • Engaged students with innovative instructional methods, teaching over 300 students.• Delivered career mentoring and advice to students, and wrote several letters of recommendation.

Taught Anatomy & Physiology and Pathophysiology.

While working here, I performed interdisciplinary and collaborative molecular genetics research, and oversaw activities related to quality assurance and regulatory standards. I also designed and implemented experiments, and completed data analysis and interpretation. I managed molecular biology tasks including PCR, transformation, plasmid manipulation, propagation, bacterial colony picking, and western blotting. I conducted routine maintenance of yeast cell strains while maintaining sterile technique and conducting standard microbiology assays. And I assisted in conducting routine maintenance of tissue culture cells. I also taught and managed a lab technician in conducting yeast microbiology techniques and assays. My key accomplishments here include: • Established a yeast system in a non-yeast lab, and expressed human p53 in yeast.• Conducted site-directed mutagenesis to introduce mutations that have been identified in cancer patients in the p53 gene, using data collected by the International Agency for Research on Cancer TP53 database.

In this role, I drafted and prosecuted patent applications. I managed communication with US Patent and Trademark office on patent prosecution. I also advised attorneys in a variety of scientific areas, including biochemistry, microbiology, organic chemistry, genetics, and molecular biology.

Here, identified pharmaceutical experts and prepared experts for trial. I also analyzed and summarized scientific literature for attorneys.

In this position, I planned, executed, evaluated, and reported research activities as part of a multidisciplinary research team. This involved designing and conducting experiments and maintaining lab records. I analyzed data and prepared manuscripts based on results of experiments. I also managed molecular biology tasks including PCR, transformation, plasmid manipulation, propagation and bacterial colony picking. I sequenced and analyzed the genomic sequences of multiple genes in both wild-type and mutant polyploid soybean plants, and determined the expression profiles of four MIPS genes via quantitative real-time reverse transcription-PCR in different tissues of soybean plants and different germination stages of soybeans. I also developed a melting curve analysis assay to distinguish between wild-type and a specific GmFAD3A mutant allele. And I managed undergraduates, graduates, and the lab technician in day-to-day experimentation. I had a few achievements here as well: • Set up and ran a high throughput assay called targeting induced local lesions in genomes (TILLING).• Developed several rapid molecular marker assays that allowed breeders to test for specific genetic traits.• Determined the complete genomic sequence of all four MIPS genes in soybean plants.
