Responsibilities and achievements:• Head of distribution team delivering daily volumes of asphalt and aggregates of over 7000 tonnes. Covering a network of 12 coating plants, 7 wharves, 10 quarries and 5 rail heads.• Managing a team of employees, transport planners, production planners, co-ordinators and administrators totalling 15+.• Responsible for recruitment, performance management and disciplinary procedures.• Accountable for delivering customer service across south east for aggregates and asphalt.• Taking lead in major contract planning.• Complaint investigation and negotiation.• Head of logistics required me to change role from S&OP manager as he saw I was the only person to improve department performance levels.• Restructured departmental roles to introduce late load trackers, production and transport planners. This gave better understanding of roles and responsibilities.• Achieved reduction of distribution errors, 57% from previous year cash saving of £84,000. Achieved by 1-1 coaching sessions, call assessments and performance reviews.• Reduced call abandoned rate from 19% to 3%. Call responsiveness improved to 81% from 43% (calls answered within 10 seconds). Average wait also reduced significantly from 88 seconds to just 12 seconds. Delivered by investing in the development of the team with structured training programs.• Investigation of contracting non conformance report (NCRs) claims, caused them to look into their own working practices. Cost saving of £92,500 per annum based on previous two years.• Implemented contracting liaison role, to improve communication between operations and surfacing department. This has meant less 42% NCRs than previous years.• Customers now informed of late loads 97% of time an improvement from 46% prior to implementation of late load monitors in restructure. Leading to reduced number of complaints due to communication.

Responsibilities and achievements:• Running of rail network within South East region, moving average of 38,000 tonnes per week of aggregates. • Regional forecast gathering and communicating.• Cross regional replenishment forecasting.• Owner and negotiator of mixer hire matrix. Negotiated with external hire truck companies, gaining a saving of £144,000 yearly comparison. Some even gained confidence to work “on the ticket”.• Significant contract planning.• Replenishment of asphalt and concrete plant raw aggregate needs and haulage rate setting. Resulting in a £410,000+ saving over the year on year comparison and inflationary savings.• Replenishment Lane haulage rate negotiation.• Involved in development and implementation of S&OP tool• Bought Rail planning role in house creating a saving of £21,000 on salary cost. Also improved communications on rail failures to ensure fixed outlets maintained continuous supply.• Implemented significant contract planning, previously these fell short on Major contract planning but still needed lower level planning.• Led Colas Southend Airport runway project, a high profile contract with significant time restrictions and first time BBA runway materials were supplied and laid in the UK. This needed planning of plant aggregate requirement, shipping forecast from Ireland for raw feed, tipper fleet profile, plant mixing programmes and customer liaison throughout the contract.• Instigated cross functional meetings to encompass S&OP forecast review.
