Most recently, I stepped into a liaison role to indirectly influence teams (finance, supply chain, IT, etc.) to support a Medical Group comprised of +50 clinics and +950 employees. This included building and leading a team of 18 direct-report agency staff, supporting ambulatory clinics with Covid symptom screening. As the Medical Group’s sole project manager, I’ve engaged on 21 projects to date. Equally, I supported the Chief Medical Officer and executive directors with finances and reviewed 60+ ambulatory clinic budgets totaling $150M.Successes include managing a hospital and community Covid vaccination clinic (in partnership with Microsoft). I represented EvergreenHealth on the joint project with Microsoft, Starbucks, and Overlake Medical Center to create a mass vaccination site. As a result, we administered over 160,000 vaccines to over 100,000 unique patients from February 1 to June 15, 2021.

Greater Seattle Area

For more than a year, I managed operations of 2 surgical specialty clinics (general urology and urogynecology services) in 2 different locations. While creating growth strategies to capture share in a highly competitive market, I held full ownership of clinic finances, staffing, scheduling, and provider deployment. I also oversaw 6 physicians, 2 nurse practitioners, and 23 front office/clinical support staff. I’m most proud of overhauling operations to rank among the highest producing clinics. US News ranked us the 4th best Urology practice in the State of Washington for 2020. By transforming the culture, I created a cohesive, autonomous team rooted in comradery, accountability, and trust. This led to 20% improvement in patient satisfaction scores (specific to the staff). Also notable, I achieved financial stability with reduced patient volumes during the Covid shutdown.

Greater Seattle Area

In 2016, I was promoted to develop cost-saving strategies for a 400-bed hospital through supply contracts in 4–5 major areas: surgery, laboratory, radiology, and research. Likewise, I managed +93% of the hospital’s clinical supplies and equipment contracts, as well as a freight management program. In this role, I generated cost savings by engaging stakeholders to review/implement supply alternatives, and renegotiate existing contracts based on market trends. Accordingly, I was in charge of ~$30M in annual purchases and negotiated over $4M in total savings over 3 fiscal years. Also notable, by standardizing 90% of spine & trauma implants to a dual source vendor, I improved patient outcomes and cut costs $1.5M.

Initially with Seattle Children’s Hospital, I planned and sourced goods/services by analyzing the total cost of acquisition and financial impact to hospital. This entailed reviewing, assessing, and administering local and group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts for assigned commodities.My impact included raising efficiencies by automating several manual Excel processes utilizing VBA. I also asked to increase my scope of responsibility and therefore negotiated several purchased services agreements totaling $260K. As well by convincing Operating Room partners to make product conversions and standardizations, I netted an additional $75K in annual savings.

Mt. Vernon

During this time, I drove the accurate and on-time delivery of +70M bulbs and cut flowers across the U.S. and Canada by orchestrating all logistical activities. This involved managing 50 warehouse workers and 2 administrative coordinators. My contributions included delivering significant cost savings in areas of shipping and raw materials. Additionally, I spurred a 30% cost reduction or $250K in savings by identifying lower cost freight companies and negotiating better deals. As well, I reduced costs of corrugated shipping boxes 16% annually by researching, analyzing, and testing vendors’ sample products.

As an Operations Officer, I progressed to the second highest ranking officer, supporting the commander in driving smooth daily operations of a 44-member unit, while overseeing 6 direct reports. As a platoon leader, I managed utmost efficient daily operations of 11-member EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team. Highlights included mentoring my junior team members, with more than 50% currently excelling in leadership positions. I also played a key role in the destruction of +500 pieces of classified hardware, saving the U.S. government $30M.
