The MSM Project covers 27km from junction 8 to junction 20 using a combination of Controlled Motorway and Smart Motorway all Lane Running’s. Working through 3 motorway interchanges, 10 closely spaced junctions and two significant viaducts. The project will include the instillation of a concrete safety barrier, construction emergency ERA’s, moving existing lighting, instillation of new drainage and earthworks blisters. I joined the project before construction had started. During start up I sourced and negotiated the best outcome for a suitable Aggregate, Disposal and Haulage supplier. As well as driving the concrete negotiations. Once Approved suppliers are sourced I will ensure all materials supplied are approved and meeting the clients and sites requirements.Carrying out reviews of tender enquires and subcontract orders to ensure the contract receives best possible value for money and that specification requirements are covered. It is also my responsibility to organise the UKAS laboratory setup, from retro fitting a building on site to setting up the systems implementation of safety systems and gaining UKAS accreditation.

Section 5 managed motorway improvement works covers 28km from Junction 23 to 27 of the M25, works being undertaken include various earthworks and retaining solutions, and the installation of concrete step barrier in the central reserve.During the contract start up phase I have designed and trialled mix designs using new sources of cement, admixture, aggregates and blends to establish best possible value concrete mix designs . These have created significant savings to the contract. Since the contract the contract has been underway I have been communicating with local Recycled Aggregate suppliers to find suitable materials for our earthworks solutions. Also within my role I have established the new UKAS site laboratory, implemented the Laboratory Quality systems and site safety requirements, staff sourcing, negotiating with external suppliers and test houses to ensure best possible price, monthly compliance reporting and internal auditing.

Overview: Section 1 covers the majority of the north-western quadrant of the M25 London Orbital motorway. It is the section between Junction 16 (M40) and Junction 23 (A1(M)), a distance of 22.5 miles. The scheme involves widening the motorway from three lanes to four lanes in both directions. Responsibilities & Achievements: I took over the responsibility for managing the materials testing function partway through the contract. I have maintained the laboratory quality system and department Health and Safety requirements, organising daily, weekly and monthly safety briefings and monitoring calibrations. Carried out internal and external auditing. Management of large laboratory site testing staff. Liaising with the client, customer and section departments.

Overview: The Aquatics Centre will be the Olympic Park icon and will consist of two Olympics size swimming pools and a separate dive pool; one pool will have a moveable floor. There will also be the construction of the main walkway into the Olympic Park of a 43M wide 215M long Foot Bridge. The Roads and Bridges aspect consists of the construction of 5 Stadium foot bridges and 4 rail bridges, being designed to utilise as much as the site material as possible in the construction of the back spans. Responsibilities & Achievements: My role includes establishing the site UKAS laboratory, maintaining laboratory Quality Systems, Calibrations and Auditing. Management of site testing staff, liaison with the client and customer. Materials approvals and results reporting, compliance monitoring, NCR reporting, this also goes within the monthly report I produce and submit. Giving daily staff safety briefings. Generating final test result reports for completion quality packages. Working with the Validation Handover Manager to produce the correct chemical testing data, this is specific to each area/zone of works. And enables for the discharging of planning conditions.
