I am an agricultural economist, with proven financial, management accounting, leadership, problem solving and communication skills, which I consistently draw on in my various professional and community focused roles. I am deeply committed to addressing the needs of agricultural communities and their supporting industries and do so through my previous role as an analyst at Rural Funds Management and as Board Director of the Agricultural Institute Australia (AIA).Rural Funds Management Limited (RFM) is one of the oldest and most experienced agricultural fund managers in Australia, managing approximately $2.3b of diversified agricultural assets across Australia. In my role as an analyst, I was involved primarily in supporting RFM’s macadamia portfolio, tracking, analysing and modelling the performance of current investments, as well as developing business cases for future investments in that sector. The outcomes of this work needed to be regularly consolidated and communicated to both an internal audience and investors. Before joining RFM, I had roles as a product development lead at Ozcrop, a global supplier of agrochemical products, and throughout my degree, I worked part time as an analyst at a commodity trading firm, Ikon Commodities, and at an agricultural market research company, KG2.Stepping performed many roles in the AIA, like Board Director, State Chair, and Finance and Risk Committee. Through these roles, I developed strategic priorities, met with sponsors, members and other interested parties, organised and hosted events, created budgets and chaired regular meetings, amongst others. Being exposed to, and interacting with, some of NSW and Australia’s most experienced agricultural professionals was an invaluable resource to learn and grow from.I have a Distinction Grade Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with Honours (specialising in Agricultural Economics), from The University of Sydney. My Honours thesis focused on “How Adopting Sensory and Digital Technologies Affects Agribusiness Economic Productivity and Business Structure”. The goal was to better understand the barriers faced in adopting new technologies in agriculture, and mechanisms to mitigate those. I was able to present the findings at conferences, the largest being the Science, Technology, Engineering and Economics for Digital Agriculture Conference (STEEDA), where I was one of only three Honours theses permitted to present.
