Andrew Concoff, MD, FACR, CAQSM brings a tremendous range of clinical experience to his roles as Chief Innovation Officer at Exagen, Inc. He continues to serve as EVP, Chief Medical Officer at United Rheumatology. At Exagen, the preeminent Rheumatology-focused diagnostic laboratory in the country, his focus will include supervising the Rheumatoid Arthritis Drug Response (RADR) program designed to identify predictive biomarkers of drug response from synovial tissue at the transcriptomic level as well as assessing and developing new assets in systemic lupus and other autoimmune conditions. As Chief Medical Officer at United Rheumatology, he focuses on the creation of value based care opportunities with payers and quality improvement initiatives with industry to leverage the UR-NICE data repository and Capricorn enterprise software to advance the quality of real-world rheumatology care and to secure a future for independent private practice rheumatology. For over fifteen years, Dr. Concoff applied his training as one of the few doctors in the nation to have completed fellowships in both Rheumatology and Sports Medicine to a private practice at Providence St. Joseph, St. Jude Medical Center. Along with his clinical practice, he served as Medical Director for Outpatient Rehabilitation, leading the transition to evidence-driven physical therapy and the development of a value-based low back pain assessment and treatment program. Dr. Concoff received a Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health for his research in exercise for knee osteoarthritis. He continues clinical research, including lecturing nationally on topics including value-based care, sports injuries, ultrasound, and tendon disorders. His published research includes health economic analyses in rheumatic diseases and participation in guideline development on behalf of numerous medical societies. Dr. Concoff has served as a clinical reviewer for the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review cost-effectiveness assessments of targeted synthetic and biologic medications for rheumatoid arthritis, and serves on clinical advisory panels for multiple industry entities.
