Profile bio

About Andrew Cormack

I have extensive experience of the delivery and implementation of occupational medicine and primary healthcare - including ill health retirement and complex occupational medicine case management, policy, healthcare governance, continuous improvement, resource and risk management - at all levels across a number of domains; ashore and afloat, maritime and amphibious, training and operational, military and NHS.I am highly motivated and passionate about delivering the highest standard of medical care under all circumstances. To this end I have a strong proven track record in capability development and operational medical planning, including the provision of medical support to small teams working in isolated and dangerous environments with limited access to established secondary care. I have a wealth of experience in providing novel solutions to complex problems regarding delivery of and access to primary and secondary healthcare in a variety of austere environments worldwide. Clinically I have a strong and active interest in climatic and environmental medicine; including undertaking the primary research into non-freezing cold injury (NFCI) in military divers, and subsequent involvement in the development and implementation of a validated screening tool for this condition. I am the Royal Navy representative on the Defence Clinical Steering Group for NFCI. I also have an interest in sports and exercise medicine, as well as experience of the occupational, climatic and environmental implications for global expeditionary operations.I am a holder of the internationally recognised qualification of the Diploma of Aviation Medicine (DAvMed), awarded by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.
