About Andrew Demetriou

Passionate about arts, creativity and culture, I have extensive strategic, relationship management, business development and operational experience. I worked over a decade in Corporate Banking and Financial Services in management roles before following my passion for the arts, working the last several years for some of Australia’s leading cultural organisations.As Director of Commercial and Venue Partnerships at Carriageworks, one of Australia's significant cultural and creative industry hubs, I lead commercial strategy and business development; major event partnerships and public event programming; venue, music and location hire; hospitality and retail. Major global event and festival relationships managed include Australian Fashion Week, Sydney Contemporary, Sydney Festival, Vivid Sydney, Sydney Writers Festival and Semi Permanent. I previously managed operations and administration for the Australian Centre for Photography, working closely with its CEO and Board in a varied role covering operational and financial administration, relationship and event management. A strong supporter of the cultural sector, I have served as Vice Chair and Board Director for FORM Dance Projects, one of Australia's leading dance presenters and producers supporting independent dance artists and development of contemporary dance audiences.I hold tertiary Business qualifications and an MBA, having completed my final Masters’ semester in Shanghai, China as a recipient of the Australian Government’s AsiaBound grant program. I have studied and worked across Australia, Asia and Europe, committed to supporting artists and creatives develop tangible cultural, social and economic outcomes.
