HS2 Old Oak Common Station RIBA 3 On-Site Roads Design - 2018 to 2019Currently the discipline lead for On-Site Roads design. This includes reviewing and developing the RIBA 2 strategy for roads for the surface transport intermodal area, access routes into the station logistic area, ancillary buildings and connecting to strategic routes being developed by the Old Oak Common Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC). My design team are undertaking the following;- Developing new on-site road strategy - Developing fully coordinated BIM models- Identified any consents or approvals- Supporting HS2 in their engagement with TfL and OPDCHS2 Euston Station RIBA 2 Highway and Utilities Design - 2017 to 2018Andy undertook highway and utility design for this project from AP03 to the RIBA Stage 2 Functional Specification Design (FSD) of the station. This included reviewing and developing them in parallel with the redesign work undertaken for the station. Andy’s design team undertook the following;- Development of fully coordinated BIM models- Identified any consents or approvals- Supported HS2 in their engagement with TfL and London Borough of Camden- Developed proposals for the temporary arrangements for construction phases.- Clash detection and space proofing of new utility routesPrincipal Place, Multiplex2016 to 2017Detailed design of the private drainage and S278 works for this prestigious office and residential development including site coordination. The designs required careful and methodical approach with an attention to detail to ensure the major constraints of Network Rail structures, confined spaces and utility congestion were not affected.

Prior to me joining, WYG did not have any engineering staff resident in the London office. I actively marketed the London and South East region to develop new work within the civil and structural fields. My time has been equally split between business development, bidding and as Project Director, coordinating inputs from teams in other offices. I held financial, operational, technical and business development responsibility of 3 profit centres, with P&L fee turnover of up to approximately £2m per annum. My teams delivered preplanning, feasibility, cost advice, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for infrastructure and highway design. Key market sectors include retail, residential, energy and public sector. I worked with an extensive client list, and network of referral organisations comprising architects, planners and project managers. My focus was primarily on client management ensuring repeat business, securing new clients, providing high level technical advice (expert witness and Engineer), Project Director on the larger and more challenging projects and strategic business management. Further corporate responsibility included member of the Operational and Quality Boards, chair of the Design Forum and CAD User group.

On returning to the UK in 2000, I took the role of Divisional Manager with Mouchel. I was instrumental in building up the business in Essex, moving it from a loss making turnover of £4million to a profitable turnover of £8 million with direct responsibility of 100 staff.

I returned to Qatar in 1996, as a Senior Manager with DHV, responsible for technical and financial aspects of infrastructure and highway projects. I had an active role in the general running of the office, deputising for the Director in his absence. The Qatar office comprised 30 staff, with an average annual turnover of £2 million fees. I prepared technical and financial proposals and marketed the company in Dubai.

On joining Mouchel in 1988 I spent approximately 18 months in Qatar where I worked on the design and site supervision of large infrastructure projects. Returning to the UK in 1990, I became involved in a wide variety of civil and structural projects. This included traffic planning, feasibility studies, detailed design, and preparation of contract documentation and supervision of construction. I ensured that all my work met with a successful conclusion, which led to promotion within Mouchel and a higher level of responsibility.
