Optical EngineerNight Vision And Electronic Sensors Directorate May 2010 - PresentScience & Technology Division-Security clearance required-Designing a mechanical housing for a duel band (MWIR and LWIR) seventeen element optical assembly involving four fields of view; the housing will accommodate movement for a focus group to maintain athermalization and includes a filter wheel to implement specific spectrum band passes. In addition, I conducted thermal analysis for each optical configuration and analyzed element tolerances to assess the systems manufacturability.-Designed a compact Near Eye Display optical testing apparatus to accommodate MTF and luminance testing of helmet mounted displays; testing apparatus included a pellicle and two achromatic doublets to split the ray path to a CCD and to a spectrometer.Air Systems Division:-Security clearance required-Managed a team of 11 members as the Test Director for Degraded Visual Environment Pilotage program, which included: drafting flight test proposals and implementing field testing of a synthetic vision for US Army pilots. The synthetic vision was comprised of three sensor modalities: RADAR, LIDAR and passive LWIR sensor. Led the posttest synthetic vision data assessment and the analysis process; I presented the results at the Integrated Product Team downselect to the program management office.-Developed IR sensor specifications from stakeholder requirements and conducted trade studies prior to sensor design.-Redesigned a medium Thermal Weapon Sight to accommodate larger format array with greater resolution.-Lead engineer on a 360 degree multi-sensor distributed aperture program for US Army utility helicopters.-Designed a super resolution system using a fast steering mirror for a large format uncooled LWIR sensor.
