Managing an IT ops team of six, of which are responsible for supporting 300+ users and five sites. I have been involved in and responsible for designing and fitting out several new offices, and facilitating IT & AV requirements, as well as managing the logistics behind moving large amounts of staff out and in, while coordinating infrastructure requirements and ensuring business continuity with zero downtime. Other responsibilities have been building the IT team (from two to a planned twelve) to meet the ongoing needs of the business. With this has come the need to mentor and upskill the team, while providing a strong sense of leadership and direction within the team. I was also responsible for the design, build and implementation of Nearmap’s first Machine Learning cluster, which is responsible for delivering a brand new product to our customers. More recently I have undertaken the large task of moving all of Nearmap’s corporate infrastructure into code and integrated this with CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments, upgrades and scaling. On the back of this I have also moved all of our applications where possible, to Docker containers, allowing us to much more effectively scale as needed.

Responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of Nearmap’s global network, Including infrastructure critical to Nearmap’s data pipeline and product. Also looking after Nearmap’s cloud infrastructure (AWS), and all Linux and Windows servers running in the cloud, including all services running on these servers (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Windows Server, Active Directory). Configuration and maintenance of all network equipment at each of our sites, including but not limited to, firewalls, switches, routers and VPN tunnels. Also, ongoing security assessments and exploit testing.

Responsible for all major production systems, Both implementation and maintenance, Consisting of a Windows domain, File servers, Linux servers, ESX virtual environment, Virtual desktop environment, Avaya IPO VoIP server, CyTrack call center systems, JIRA & Confluence design and administration. I am responsible for all desktop support, both face to face and remote, with a user base of 80+ users. Have also been responsible for the implementation and maintanence of Squid proxy server, file servers (Windows and Linux), remote hardware monitoring services, Syslog server, various group policy rollouts (configurations & software deployments) and an automated PXEboot linux environment for a VDI deployment.
