Building an online education platform to help school students master advanced writing skills.

After a nomadic contractor's career I joined a productive and creative home. Liquid Interactive houses some of the best artists, designers, developers and project managers I've ever met. My role was to lead complex digital service design and behaviour change projects particularly in the areas of education and mental health. In practice this meant listening, talking, walking, thinking, writing, sketching, directing, synthesising, and occasionally napping.Clients included the Australian Department of Education, Department of Health, Digital Health Agency, Public Service Commission, Disney/Pixar, Mindspot, Beyondblue, Triple P, and the Financial Basics Foundation, among many others.

Spent almost a year managing a huge game design traineeship program for high school students at one of Brisbane's best indie game dev studios. An amazing combination of education, training and creative design work. Grew the program from 100 to 250 students, expanded from 20 participating schools to over 70, developed business and performance management systems, as well as marketing and educational content.

During the GFC, stability was at a premium. Luckily for me a great role came up to lead the Financial Services training team at Communities. Big department, great team who were just entering into online learning and really wanted to experiment and play around. We very quickly became the go-to team in the department.

Fascinated with school education, I completed a Grad Dip Teaching (in the slowest possible time) and then spent six months teaching high school and middle years at Holland Park SHS and Marshall SS. Great experience, valuable insight, only scratched the surface of the profession.

Like a wandering samurai, I travelled from client to client (really only the same half dozen clients) helping them develop their internal elearning and communications capacity.

HIGHLIGHT! One of my favourite contracts, leading training, marketing and comms for the department's internal software development team. Visionary leadership, awesome staff and the freedom to work on a whole ecosystem of dream projects made this two of the best years of my career.

I was one of the first two people hired to start up the Asia-Pacific hub for Accenture Learning. Together we spent a year establishing the business, growing the team and developing training solutions for a variety of government and blue-chip clients.

At this point we're so far back in the past that it's barely relevant.
