Perform Java and Spring-Boot development and support services on a fixed rate, or short term contract. Also provided teaching services for free, or near free to college level students taking java or database courses. Mostly on Java 11 but also a bit of java 17. Tasks included microservices development and support, error handling management, and TDD processes using jUnit.

Strive Consulting Atlanta, Ga (678-808-3321)Short term contract – 8 weeks – 9/15-11/15Was bought in to assist a Strive customer to complete an MVP product. Client is a Software company specializing in car dealership support software for reconditioning used cars. I focused on their AWS Kinesis messaging process that was used to trigger Various down stream processes including sending price drop alerts to those customers that registered for price alerts. Kinesis consumer was a Spring Boot application that used the Spring Cloud Kinesis binder, along with Spring JPA & Hibernate and MySql. Eclipse, Consul, git, and Jira were used daily.

Not working due to COVID pandemic

As the first applications Architect at Floor and Decor I was tasked with several enterprise-wide initiatives including:1. Institute guidelines and standards for all in-house, java-based applications.2. The development and implementation of an Architectural Review board whereby all applications are reviewed prior to development and implementation.3. Introduced Splunk across the enterprise and oversaw it's implementation in all in-house systems.4. Introduced Dynatrace across the enterprise and oversaw it's implementation in all in-house systems.5. Introduced DevOps to the enterprise which included: 1 - approval of the formation of a devops team, the formation and acquazion of the team; and directly supervised the new team. The team consists of 3 engineers.6. Assisted with the design, and implementation of a private Azure-based cloud for use by internal applications. This included the implementation of a Microsoft ExpressRoute for high-speed, private access.7. Introduced the use of Terraform and Ansible and oversaw it's implementation.8. Initiated the move from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes.9. Fully integrated Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket so all code commits were directly linkable back to stories and all technical project artifacts were linked together.10. Directly oversaw the upgrade of the current in-house hardware and application landscape. When I arrived application and database outages happened several times a week. Once the upgrade effort was completed the number of outages per week dropped to zero. Major service outages are now rare.

While with The Home Depot I performed duties as a Java Team Lead and also as an Software Architect. Among many other things, I automated the calculations of sales tax across the entire enterprise. This includes calculations at all store registers, all store counters, all orders on homedepot.com, and other corporate services that require the calculation of sales tax. In addition, there were countless other projects I was either the lead on, or the head architect. This work was mostly java 6 & 8 along with some Linux bash scripting, Pivotal Tracker for story and project management.

Java Technical Lead for the Electronic Benefits Transfer product line. Each EBT system that is implemented is a highly customized variant of the base product. The customizations performed include both customizing existing code, and developing new functionality as required. The project dev lead is the senior most member of the development team which consists of a lead, and 1 to 5 programmers depending on the size of the project. The technical aspects of the job include working with: HTML & CSS w/JSP and Struts; Java 1.6 & JDBC, along with an Oracle 11g back-end. Supervisory skills along with coding skills on all stated disciplines.

Responsible for application system implementations, analysis gathering, developing any required conversions and any required customizations and reports. Primary programming language started with Java 3 and finished-up on Java 5.
