I've been programming since the first BBC Master systems arrived at school when I was 9. In 1992, whilst studying at university, I co-wrote and sold a game called Wop Gamma for the Sam Coupe microcomputer. This experience secured me my first development job programming tote machines for ILTS in 1995.In 1998, whilst working for BSS Audio, I was approached by a friend who wanted some sound effects records transferred to PC. I developed an application for the purpose and released it as shareware under the name Audiotools. Two years later, with the income outstripping my day-job, I took the project full-time, releasing several other applications and producing custom versions at the request of various clients. The business lasted nearly seven years until software piracy eventually made it untenable and I returned to regular employment with Serif.During this productive period, I also took the time to explore another of my interests - writing. This resulted, in 2006, in the publication of my novel, Erasmus Hobart and the Golden Arrow. After a long, complicated history, the book has been reissued in 2012 by Authonomy, an imprint of HarperCollins.
