I work in the Boyle lab at Colorado School of Mines. Our primary research goal is based on algal byproducts and their derivatives for energy production. I work with high school students and help aid their knowledge and understanding of chemistry, biology, and mathematics concepts to help prepare for homework, exams, and future college studies.

Under funding from the Society of Toxicology, I interned at the Center for Environmental Health Sciences program at the University of Montana. I worked in conjunction with a previous grant from NASA to investigate the cytotoxic effects of lunar and Martian dust simulants and their roles in the lungs. To perform this research I used cell culture, cytotoxicity assays, protein assays, and hemolysis assays. I worked with Professor Mark Seger to perform 3D printing undergraduate research at Colorado School of Mines. We printed molecular structures of organic molecules using SLS and FDM printers. These structures could then be used in the classroom to help students better understand the features of biological molecules by seeing structures in a larger representation.
