Andrew Ginzel is a musicologist, educator, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer in the San Diego area. He is a scholar of American popular music specializing in rock and folk music and California music history. His work examines stylistic hybridity and regional identity. He currently teaches at Point Loma Nazarene University as an adjunct professor of music composition.Originally from the Central Illinois area, he moved to San Diego when he started high school. He is working on his M.A. in Musicology at San Diego State University (2025) and holds a B.A. in Commercial Music Composition and Production from Point Loma Nazarene University (2022).Andrew is a member of the American Musicological Society, the Society for American Music, The College Music Society, and the MIDI Association. He is an active member of BMI and was a Student Ambassador for The Mechanical Licensing Collective.
