With over 12 million people in the UK suffering with hearing loss, over 500,000 people in care homes also needing help, I am passionate bringing knowledge and help to staff in care homes as well as improving the lives of residents every day. Why?I've lived with hearing loss since birth and went profoundly deaf overnight in 2002. I do understand all the challenges and frustrations that come with living and working with hearing loss of all different types and levels. With this experience, I'm trying every day to make the world better, one life at a time. I'm fiercely passionate about good quality training and supporting people with hearing loss in all stages of life.

Hearing Loss Outreach Service ManagerJewish Deaf Association Mar 2016 - PresentNorth Finchley, LondonDeveloped the Hearing Loss Outreach Service from scratch. This included developing training packages for staff and volunteers, recruiting over 30 amazing people to deliver the service and then to train, monitor and support them. The service works with thousands of people with hearing loss every year, living in residential homes; ensuring that they have access to services, receive basic hearing aid maintenance and that care staff receive deaf awareness training. Over 2000 staff members in 35 different care services have received the training so far. This includes Care homes, day centres, assisted living and mental health homes. We work in partnership with care homes across London and further afield in places like Manchester, Brighton and Hertfordshire. I promote the service within the health and care home sectors by attending various boards and conferences. Currently sitting on the Adult Engagement Board at Barnet Council and working with bodies such as NHS England and the Office of CCGs.Since the onset of Covid-19, we changed the focus of the service to support those in their own homes. in 2020, we supported over 400 individuals around London, Essex and Hertfordshire all of whom would have been left isolated and desperate for help as all the hospitals shut their doors. The pandemic really hit home how we need to be flexible and clever in our thinking if we are to support as many people as possible around the UK.

Owner Of The Clean Ears And Microsuction SpecialistThe Clean Ears Apr 2022 - May 2023Eastbourne, England, United KingdomFor just over one year, I provided much-needed earwax removal services in care homes and in the community. Ear wax is the biggest cause of temporary hearing loss in care homes across the UK. Sadly, lack of integration with care homes in Sussex, meant I paused the business. Instead, I'll be focusing on raising awareness of hearing loss in care homes. When there is sufficient demand, I'll restart the business. As Arnie says, I'll be back!
