I am a PhD student studying mechanical engineering at Tennessee Technological University. I am a part of the Dynamic and Smart Systems Lab, and my current work is centered around vibration based smart building research. Specifically, I am involved in developing improved fall detection, event localization, and occupancy estimation algorithms from floor based vibration data and finite element modeling.Before switching to a PhD program, my previous research experience includes biomedical engineering research focused on total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery. I worked on non-destructive evaluation methods to detected damage in simulated TKAs a using impedance based structural health monitoring techniques combined with convolutional neural networks. Additionally, I developed a novel full elliptical scaling and shifting (FESS) algorithm to create patient specific TKA tibia geometry from bi-planar patient radiographs and a single generic model.As and undergraduate, I interned at Los Alamos Dynamics Summer School in 2020. While at Los Alamos, I worked on developing algorithms to intelligently form frames from neuromorphic camera data in order to apply digital stroboscopy and wavelet transforms to see desired frequency and modal content for structural health monitoring applications. I also participated in undergraduate research at TTU involving fully 3D printed capacitive sensors for footed pressure sensing applications.
