I am a 3rd year pre-medical student at the University of Missouri, planning to apply for medical school at the start of the next application cycle. I am in the honors college and I am working towards a bachelor of science in psychology, minors in philosophy, chemistry, and biology; and certificates in neuroscience, addiction science, and ethics. While at school I split my time between studying, working in my leadership positions, planning volunteering events in coordination with Special Olympics, fundraising money for people with disabilities, and working as a research assistant in 2 labs on campus.While away from school, I work full time as an ophthalmic technician and scribe for Hill Vision Services, LLC, a private practice ophthalmology clinic in St. Louis. In this role I work 1 on 1 with patients before they are seen by the doctor, asking them questions, performing tests, and charting all the information. As a scribe I have gained experience using medical terminology, working with insurance and pharmacies, and have also gained valuable experience shadowing the doctors through surgery and clinic. I have gained 500+ hours of direct clinical experience through this opportunity.
