As Inlight's Technical Director my role covered both Technical Leadership, People Leadership as well as day-to-day operations of the Development team. A typical day for me involved running workshops with external clients to help Architect and plan new Solutions and Products, running interviews for new roles (technical and non-technical), providing guidance and technical direction on upcoming and in-flight projects, helping to plan existing projects and scope out large complex solutions and features as well as occasionally jumping into a code editor to help ship some of the more complicated or time-dependant tasks.A big focus during my time there was to helping to transition not only the development team but also the wider Inlight team into an effective remote-first working pattern as well as putting in place a new Career and Coaching Framework for our team of 18 developers to help them grow and succeed further in their roles.

As Head of Product Development at Rome2rio, I saw the Product Strategy, Delivery Management, Design and the day-to-day Engineering of their 3 key product offerings. This included 3 different Apps (Web, iOS & Android), the User Acquisition & Primary Search Product as well as working alongside the rest of the team to rapidly grow Rome2rio's new ticketing and booking product.Alongside managing the Rome2rio Product I also directly managed a diverse team of Engineers and Designers. This included: - Supporting the health, growth and performance of the individual contributors across all the teams.- Encouraging the Engineers to always be thinking about our users, not just the technology solution.- Helping the team make sure they are working on the right features that help lead to Rome2rio's success.- Working with the Engineering and Technical leads to set and achieve ambitious development targets.- Performing regular Code Reviews and jumping into the code or design tools when a helping hand is needed.

I oversaw and managed the product strategy and day-to-day of the Design, Front-end and Mobile teams at Rome2rio. These teams were united together so we could better produce a unified and consistent user experience across our entire suite of products at Rome2rio. These products included our Native apps, our search and acquisition products as well as our ticketing and booking platform.

I worked in a split role at Sherpa (SaaS) which encompassed the roles of Front-End Engineering Lead and Product Lead. I was in charge of driving the vision of the Product, the UX/ Design and Front End Development teams. I managed a small, yet talented team of 5 Developers and 1 Designer.I also spent time helping to build and design the product as well as leading client discovery meetings, preparing sales pitches, and forecasting product road-maps for the Executive and Sales teams.Tech: Angular JS, jQuery, .Net backend, Node.js middleware for scalability.
