Responsible for –• Leading projects ranging from small design changes to complete redesigns of subsea drilling equipment. Generally involves creating proposal, carrying out design changes, stress analysis, design verification, FEA, third party approval, material analysis/selection, welding, FMEA, chairing meetings, meeting deadlines, managing design resources, liaising with service and manufacturing to ensure design is optimal, NDT and project release.• Part of team designated for support of vendor issues for the drilling UK business, involves solving; material issues generally relating to substitution and heat treatment, issues with manufacturing, issues with polymers, signing off components as safe that have defects from manufacturing or general wear and tear, weld repairs and other general issues. • Carried out failure analysis on a number of components which had failure in the field and required to be redesigned as fast as possible to reduce cost impact. Involved working on very short deadlines and attention to detail to ensure the components would function correctly to build back faith in the company for the customer. • Acted as a review resource for global teams where projects would get routed through me to be checked before being released; required good interpersonal skills, good communication and increased knowledge of different design tactics.• Helped apprentices to develop as engineers by managing/utilizing them in projects, teaching them engineering skills, explaining product functions, giving feedback and slowly increasing their responsibility to help them grow as engineers.

Responsible for - • Disposition service reports for components to be refurbished and put back into the field. Required a lot of communication with inspectors and third party machine shops and analysis of the components. • Disposition of vendor and component issues generally relating to material issues or manufacturing defects. • Created many CAD models, assemblies and drawings for components as required.
