In this role, I have managed teams of UNIX, Virtualization, Storage, Data Protection, Observability, and Automation engineers. In addition, I have led initiatives for the development of MultiPlan's containers, automation, and infrastructure as code practices. I currently lead the GitOps Practice Group, and co-lead the Containers & Observability Practice Groups. I also lead the Infrastructure Review Board, and co-lead the Cloud Steering Committee.

I managed a team of UNIX & Virtualization engineers.

I was responsible for providing leadership in the successful delivery of creative IT infrastructure solutions. In this role, I led multiple IT teams in the successful completion of a major data center consolidation project, which included a heavy server virtualization component. Prior tto this project, I also designed and directed the infrastructure build out for a major search portal project.

In this role, I led a team of Systems Engineers responsible for designing, building, & maintaining VMware, SAN, UNIX, & Linux based systems for crucial business applications. As a manager with a strong technical background, I brought together project management, team-building, leadership and motivational skills with a focus on highly detailed and creative technical analysis and design, as well as on pursuing best practices for systems high-availability. I was also responsible for successfully maintaining effectiveness of UNIX SAS70 / SSAE16 Controls. In this leadership capacity, I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to bring the business good, technical good, and ethical good into alignment.

In this role, I was responsible for providing key server and storage solutions to support critical business functions. Responsibilities included researching, product/vendor selection, negotiation, planning, architecting, implementing, supporting and providing leadership and training to CPS/Viant engineers and administrators during and after the implementation. Key technologies included VMWare, EMC SAN, UNIX, Linux, and Windows, as well as Dell, HP, and Sun servers. Major projects I was responsible planning, designing and leading included a major VMWare Server Virtualization project, a complete Backup/Recovery architecture redesign, the GIS EDI system, multiple SAN upgrades, and a virtualized, tiered storage document management platform integrating homegrown business apps with RightFax, Alchemy, and Teleform products. In addition, I architected the SAN and backup infrastructure to support a major colo datacenter build out project, and planned, architected, and led the datacenter migration projects for multiple critical systems. At the beginning of this period, I authored the disaster recovery plan for the CPS division's UNIX-based business applications and executed annual DR tests. I also had ownership of CPS UNIX Sarbanes-Oxley Controls for a couple of years while in this role, creating and implementing the first versions of the UNIX security policy.

I was responsible for building, administering, and supporting server and storage hardware, as well as operating systems and server software. My primary focus was on Sun Solaris 7, 8, & 9, Red Hat Linux, Veritas storage software, and EMC storage, but platforms also included Novell Netware and multiple versions of Windows (NT 4, 2000, & 2003). Server hardware was primarily HP and Sun. Applications supported ranged from Oracle 8i and 9i databases running on Sun servers to RightFax running on HP ProLiant Windows servers. I also designed, coded, and administered the Concentra Preferred Systems website at the time (cpsconnect.com).

I was responsible for supporting desktop PCs, software, and related peripherals for business users.

Designed, created, and maintained multiple websites for art-related organizations and galleries in the Chicagoland area. Platform technologies were primarily Apache on Linux hosts, but also included IIS on Windows. Handling everything from server administration tasks to photo editing, I was highly proficient in HTML and graphics, and also worked with Perl-based CGI scripts, Macromedia Shockwave animation, and multiple streaming media technologies. Tools used included multiple HTML editors, Macromedia Dreamweaver & Director, Adobe Photoshop & Premiere, RealMedia, and others.
