Leckford, is a 2,800 acre estate in the beautiful Test Valley in Hampshire. It has been owned and run by the John Lewis Partnership for the last 95 years. 1700 acres is dedicated to farmland and much of what we produce ends up in Waitrose stores. We also farm a further 1000 acres for a neighbouring farm. We are a diverse estate, alongside our farming activities of arable, beef, orchards and vineyards, we have food processing operations, leisure businesses, a world famous water garden and we’re also retailers in our own right - operating a garden design business, farm shop, nursery and café. We’re even a private water supplier to local residents. The Leckford team is over 100 Partners working across 12 different enterprises.Leckford leads on regenerative farming for the Waitrose business as part of our Farming for Nature programme which is focused on supporting our UK farming supply base of over 2,000 farms into adopting regenerative nature friendly farming practices in order to help meet our 2035 carbon net zero goals. We care about animal welfare, soil health, water quality, increase biodiversity and capture carbon and the importance of UK farmers to rural economies. We are uniquely placed in our understanding of retail, farming and food production.
