Dev Bootcamp is a 19-week intensive training program for aspiring web developers, specializing in Ruby on Rails, HTML5, CSS, Test Driven Development, Object-Oriented Javascript (AJAX, JQuery), Git and Source Control, Heroku, and Agile Development. I graduated from the program in March 2015.The first 9 weeks of the curriculum are remote, while the second 9 weeks are an immersive in-class experience. The program also addresses intra and interpersonal strategies for fostering optimal learning and teamwork environments.

When I first started at Dev Bootcamp, I had very little exposure to the technical aspects of programming. However, DBC's part-time 9-week preparation allowed me to learn the basics of Ruby, HTML, and JavaScript so I could hit the ground running when I arrived on site.In the first three weeks on site, I continued to learn the fundamentals of programming through Ruby. Next, I was able to marry my knowledge of Ruby with the work of relational databases to build applications in Sinatra. Through short projects I was able to solidify the basics of building software before moving on to the last phase in the curriculum. The projects quickly grew in complexity, involving more complex database relationships and a wider range of coding languages.Throughout DBC, I not only learned the value of concepts like test-driven development, but the benefits of pair programming and best practices in how to develop software in a team environment. The program culminated with a final project that I completed with 3 other capable software developers, MealTicket.

As part of the Expert Services Support team at ENVIRON, I reviewed legal material related to toxic tortcases. From that case material, I created exposure timelines based on the plaintiffs work experience and other potential exposures. After completing projects, my work was then integral to the creation of reports that were relied on in the defense of clients.Additionally, I assisted field engineers in performing technical tasks related to field sample data collections, requiring me to quickly adapt to changing conditions and unfamiliar technologies. When not building timelines and assisting in fieldwork, I worked across departments to develop a collection of market research related to grow client services in the shale oil and gas industry. I spearheaded department research activities and digested the information to pass on to senior staff.

Built a database to store and analyze results of an annual survey to affiliated non-profits. Honed client outreach skills when following up with organizations to ensure survey completion and worked with minimal supervision to produce a report on survey results.
